Toshiba FTW!

June 23, 2008 on 11:50 pm | In Computers | No Comments

Those who know me personally will probably know that my recently bought Toshiba Portégé R500 had some problems with its screen. Somehow, even though I tried to take good care of the laptop, a couple (around 7-8) grey spots appeared on the screen. Each grey spot was about 3-4mm in diameter, and looks like normal stain on the screen (but isn’t). I forgot to take photos of the condition, but this is how it roughly looked like (I ‘drew’ it using Photoshop according to my memory)

Finally… Free time!

June 16, 2008 on 2:40 pm | In School | No Comments

Exams have been over for more than a month.. but somehow have been busy till now.. Meeting up with friends, CCAs, my Genting trip, etc, took away all the free time I have…

Finally, the busy period is finally over! The NUS Invitational Shoot (NUSIS) which I was helping out in is finally over. So now, CCA commitments should drastically reduce (i hope).

And yeah, did quite well for the NUSIS competition too! Scored 547/600 and 551/600 for School and Open Category air pistol competion respectively. Finally broke the 550+ barrier! Woohoo!

And of course, must show off my medal right? It’s a team medal, but better than nothing..=p Hey, it’s the first sports medal I have gotten in my life!

Clannad TV: DVD Vol. 3 (Limited Edition)

April 16, 2008 on 4:28 pm | In Anime, Clannad, Merchandise | No Comments

As stated in the previous Clannad post, this arrived in February, but I had no time to post this. From how things are going, Vol. 4 and 5 probably will reach my home later today (or maybe tomorrow), so I guess I better post my photos of Vol. 3 now…

I’ll cut things short, and go straight to the contents of the DVD (it’s as usual 7600 yen before taxes).

This is how undergraduates use toilets:

Needed to do ‘business’ today, but when I went into the toilet cubicle, this is what I saw. This is one of the reasons why I’m not staying in hostel from next semester onwards… (Warning: Unsightly Disturbing pictures ahead.)

Use != implement !!!!

April 2, 2008 on 1:42 pm | In Rantings, School | No Comments

Received an email regarding one of the sit-in labs I did for my programming module… My score was 9/10… Not exactly a bad score (actually I don’t know whether it’s good or bad, I don’t know how others did), but I’m not happy with the reason I did not get perfect credit…

“You must implement linked list to solve this lab. I cant not give you full marks for this. Please read the instruction careful next time. “

Odds of getting back a lost cell phone

March 8, 2008 on 7:46 pm | In Singapore | No Comments

School work’s like an infinite loop, no matter how much you try doing them, they can somehow still pile up.. My mid-terms’s just over today, yet I don’t feel anymore happy… Haiz..

Anyway, stumbled upon this article on Yahoo! Tech. Apparently, Reader’s Digest did an experiment to find the odds of cell phones being returned in 32 cities, including Singapore.

Quite surprsingly, out of 30 cell phones ‘dropped’ in Singapore, 16 of them were returned! Wow… So if you lose your cell phone in Singapore, you actually have more than 50% chance of it being returned to you? Amazing!

25 phones out of 30 phones returned

In any case, before any of you are contented with the findings, we still have a long way to go. Singapore is actually ranked 25th out of 32 cities.

The complete set of results can be found here.

The war has ended.. Has it?

January 29, 2008 on 10:38 pm | In Anime, Rantings | No Comments

Today marks the end of the Odex’s case against Pacific Internet (or PacNet as it’s now officially called). Justice Woo Bih Li dismissed Odex’s request of the names of the alleged anime downloaders, and ordered it to pay PacNet’s legal fees of $20,000. This is because Odex could not sue the downloaders under Singapore’s Copyright Act, as it did not hold the copyright to the anime.

However, the High Court ordered PacNet to reveal the identities to the six studios producing the animated Japanese cartoons.

Clannad TV: DVD Vol. 1 (Limited Edition)

December 27, 2007 on 12:28 pm | In Anime, Clannad, Merchandise | No Comments

Yippee! My DVD’s finally arrived yesterday (just when I was leaving my house.. Lucky me..)

Clannad Vol. 1 (Front) Clannad Vol.1 (Back)

For those who don’t know what Clannad is about, you can find a very good entry on wikipedia. The beautiful storyline by VisualArt’s/Key, combined with the high-quality animations of Kyoto Animation, made Clannad one of the best and most anticipated anime of 2007. These companies have also made Kanon and Air, both of which I consider masterpieces.

Anyway, this Limited Edition DVD retails at 7600 yen (excluding taxes). It’s 1640 yen more than the regular edition, but I was really happy with the amount of goodies it came with. =p
